Ah, Ramen … I never get tired of this delicious dish. I’m always looking for a new ramen restaurant in Amsterdam.
Three months ago, Hinata opened this cozy place in the heart of Jordaan neighborhood, which it’s incredibly good for me, because I live only 5 minutes away! On Sundays of rain and cold I will no longer have to walk or take the bike … I can simply fall out of bed and eat my favorite food!
Hinata means “where the sun shines” in Japanese. I believe Hinata Ramen is doing quite well for a newbie. Everytime i pass by the restaurant is full, which is a good thing.
The broth is all homemade and doesn´t contain any MSG in it (Monosodium Glutamate, you can find more about this substance here). They mix the traditional Japanese soba technique into ramen, which means that their ramen has a unique and distinctive taste.
I tried Miso Ramen in my first visit, which contains creamy miso broth, miso sauce tare with pork chashu, half egg, spring onion and black mushroom. The second time, i tried Shoyu Ramen, also made with creamy chicken broth, soy sauce tare with pork chashu, half egg, spring onion and black mushroom. The broth was good and creamy, and the noodles texture was excellent.
I must say that the egg was hard boiled and I´m not a really big fan, since i prefer the yolk thick and runny. Also, even though the broth was amazing, i found it a little bit bland, so i had to add salt (i must say i like salty food, so this is not a criticism).
The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and the service was great. We didn´t have to wait for our food more than 5 minutes. The prices are cheaper than other ramen restaurants in Amsterdam. You can enjoy a big bowl for 12€.
And last but not least, they have an extensive selection of Japanese Whiskey, sake and beers to make sure you´ll enjoy the experience!
And you, have you tried this new ramen restaurant?
